Job Overview

Taakulo Somali Community is recruiting a Resource Mobilisation Specialist to support the Somali Humanitarian Hub (SHH). The role focuses on fundraising, donor engagement, and proposal development to secure sustainable funding for humanitarian programmes. The successful candidate will work closely with SHH leadership and the Start Network to strengthen resource mobilisation strategies and partnerships.

Background

The Somali Humanitarian Hub (SHH), as part of the Start Network, is a locally led platform aimed at transforming humanitarian response in Somalia. The Hub is entering a growth phase focused on donor engagement and funding sustainability aligned with its 2026–2028 Resource Mobilisation Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Mobilise funds by designing and pitching programmes to donors; develop and submit at least four high-quality proposals within six months; engage with local and international donors including corporate and philanthropic organizations; conduct donor mapping and stakeholder analysis; organize donor meetings and one donor roundtable; build and maintain donor relationships; develop concept notes, budgets, and presentations; support development of marketing materials and hub communications; track funding applications and donor commitments; maintain donor databases and reporting systems; contribute to development of an ethical donor assessment policy; support capacity building and knowledge sharing among hub members.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience in resource mobilisation and fundraising within humanitarian or development sectors; strong knowledge of donor landscapes and funding mechanisms; excellent proposal writing and communication skills; strong networking and stakeholder engagement abilities; familiarity with institutional, corporate, and philanthropic donors; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered.

Experience Required

Demonstrated experience in fundraising, donor engagement, and proposal development; experience working with NGOs or humanitarian organizations; familiarity with Somalia’s humanitarian and development context is highly desirable.

Salary / Remuneration

Competitive daily rate based on experience; estimated GBP £150 per day (approx. USD $200) for 2 days per week over a 6-month period.

Key Deliverables

Submission of at least four donor proposals; organization of donor meetings and one donor roundtable; regular donor engagement updates; development of ethical donor assessment policy; preparation of concept notes, presentations, and marketing materials; maintenance of donor database and reporting systems.
