Position Overview

Human Appeal is seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse to support surgical and rehabilitation healthcare services in Mogadishu.

The selected candidate will play a vital role in delivering quality patient care throughout:

  • Pre-operative treatment
  • Post-operative recovery
  • Rehabilitation support

The Nurse will work closely with:

  • Doctors
  • Surgeons
  • Physiotherapists
  • Project teams

while ensuring patient safety, infection prevention, proper documentation, and continuity of care.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Patient Care

  • Conduct pre-operative nursing assessments
  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures
  • Deliver post-operative nursing care including:
    • Wound management
    • Pain management
    • Vital sign monitoring
  • Support rehabilitation and recovery activities alongside physiotherapists
  • Administer medications and monitor side effects or complications

Infection Prevention & Safety

  • Maintain strict infection prevention and control measures
  • Ensure adherence to patient safety and clinical care standards
  • Report medical concerns promptly to supervising doctors and project managers

Patient Education & Support

  • Educate patients and caregivers on:
    • Medication adherence
    • Post-operative care
    • Home-based recovery procedures

Qualifications & Experience

Education

Minimum 2–3 years of nursing experience, preferably in:

  • Surgical wards
  • Post-operative care
  • Orthopedic or rehabilitation settings

Experience working with humanitarian or NGO health projects is highly desirable.
