Job Overview

This role is critical to ensuring all construction projects under SCDC meet national and international safety regulations. The Construction Safety Compliance Officer will oversee site safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and collaborate with project managers to implement best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety inspections of construction sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols aligned with Somali and international construction standards.
  • Provide training to staff and subcontractors on safety procedures and emergency response.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution.
  • Maintain documentation of compliance audits, certifications, and safety performance metrics.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in construction safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
  • Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and incident analysis.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to train and mentor teams.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work in dynamic, high-pressure construction environments.
  • Fluency in Somali and English.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
  • Professional certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, CMIOSH) is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction safety compliance roles.
  • Experience managing safety programs for medium to large-scale projects.

Salary

1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
