Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Petroleum Drilling Engineer to lead our complex drilling operations in the Bosaso region. This role is critical to our exploration and production strategy in the region. The successful candidate will oversee the design, planning, and execution of drilling programs, ensuring all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with international standards. This position requires a deep understanding of wellbore stability, fluid dynamics, and advanced drilling technologies. Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize complex drilling programs, including wellbore trajectories and casing designs.
- Supervise drilling operations on-site to ensure adherence to technical specifications and safety protocols.
- Manage drilling fluids and cement programs to ensure wellbore integrity.
- Conduct technical evaluations of drilling equipment and vendor services.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for non-productive time (NPT) and drilling complications.
- Collaborate with reservoir and production teams to align drilling objectives with field development plans.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in drilling simulation software and well design tools.
- Expert knowledge of deepwater and unconventional drilling techniques.
- Strong project management and budgetary control capabilities.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) regulations.
Education
A minimum of a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Professional certification in drilling engineering is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 8 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering, with a proven track record in offshore or complex onshore environments. Experience in the East African energy sector is a significant advantage. We are looking for leaders who have successfully managed multi-million dollar drilling campaigns.
Salary
The offered salary for this position is between 4,500,000 SSP and 7,200,000 SSP, depending on experience and technical expertise. This is a competitive package designed to attract top-tier talent for employment in Somalia.
