Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Petroleum Reservoir Engineer to join our technical team in Berbera. This role is critical to our long-term production strategy, focusing on maximizing the recovery of hydrocarbons from complex geological formations. The successful candidate will be responsible for reservoir modeling, performance prediction, and optimizing well production strategies. This position requires a deep understanding of fluid flow in porous media and the ability to interpret complex seismic and well data. As part of our specialized subsurface team, you will play a pivotal role in determining the economic viability of new drilling sites and managing existing assets to ensure maximum efficiency and safety.

Key Responsabilities

  • Conduct detailed reservoir simulation studies to predict future production profiles.
  • Perform material balance calculations and decline curve analysis for existing wells.
  • Optimize well placement and completion strategies to maximize recovery factors.
  • Collaborate with geologists and drilling engineers to mitigate subsurface risks.
  • Monitor real-time production data to identify deviations from predicted models.
  • Prepare technical reports for management regarding reservoir uncertainty and risk.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in reservoir simulation software such as Eclipse or CMG.
  • Expertise in characterizing complex reservoir fluids and rock properties.
  • Strong mathematical modeling and statistical analysis capabilities.

Education

A minimum of a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or a closely related geological science is required. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level technical position.

Experience

Candidates must possess at least 8 years of direct experience in reservoir engineering within the upstream oil and gas sector. Proven track record in managing large-scale reservoir models and contributing to multi-million dollar drilling decisions is essential. Experience working in emerging markets or complex geological environments is a significant advantage.

Salary

The offered salary for this position ranges from 1,200,000 to 1,850,000 SSP per annum, depending on the candidate’s specific expertise and technical certifications.
