Job Overview

The E‑commerce Marketplace Operations Manager will lead the end‑to‑end management of Jumia’s marketplace platform in Somalia. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will be responsible for optimizing seller onboarding, product catalog quality, order fulfillment processes, and customer satisfaction metrics. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including Technology, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Support to ensure seamless operations and drive revenue growth. This position plays a pivotal role in scaling Jumia’s presence in Hargeisa and beyond, aligning operational strategies with the broader corporate vision of becoming the most trusted online shopping destination in the region. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute operational strategies to increase marketplace GMV by 30% within the first year.
  • Lead seller acquisition initiatives, ensuring compliance with Jumia’s quality standards and local regulations.
  • Oversee product listing accuracy, pricing integrity, and inventory synchronization across the platform.
  • Manage order lifecycle from placement to delivery, coordinating with logistics partners to achieve on‑time delivery targets.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order defect rate, cancellation rate, and customer satisfaction scores, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team to enhance platform features, troubleshoot issues, and roll out new functionalities.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects using data‑driven insights to streamline processes and reduce operational costs.
  • Prepare regular performance reports for senior leadership, highlighting achievements, challenges, and growth opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel, SQL, or data visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with sellers, logistics providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Deep understanding of e‑commerce ecosystems, marketplace dynamics, and supply chain logistics.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of building and motivating high‑performing teams.
  • Fluency in English and Somali; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in Project Management, Data Analytics, or E‑commerce Operations will be given preference.

Experience

Applicants must have at least five years of relevant experience, preferably within a leading e‑commerce platform, online marketplace, or large‑scale retail operation. Experience in emerging markets, particularly in East Africa, will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
