Job Overview
The Sharia Compliance Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all banking products, services, and operations adhere to Islamic law and internal compliance standards. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the analyst will conduct detailed reviews of contracts, financial products, and marketing materials, providing guidance to business units and liaising with external Sharia scholars. Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve all new banking products, services, and promotional materials for Sharia compliance.
- Conduct periodic audits of existing products and operations to ensure ongoing adherence to Islamic principles.
- Prepare detailed compliance reports and present findings to senior management and the Sharia Board.
- Collaborate with legal, risk, and product development teams to embed compliance considerations early in the product lifecycle.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of local and international Sharia regulations, fatwas, and industry best practices.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on Sharia compliance requirements and ethical banking practices.
- Assist in the development and revision of internal compliance policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Respond to regulatory inquiries and support external audits related to Sharia compliance.
Required Skills
- In‑depth understanding of Islamic finance principles, Sharia law, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Somali; Arabic is a plus.
- Ability to interpret complex legal and financial documents and translate them into actionable guidance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with compliance management software.
- Effective interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across departments and with external scholars.
Education
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Islamic Studies, Law, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certification such as Certified Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) is highly desirable and demonstrates a commitment to expertise in the field.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of relevant experience in Sharia compliance, Islamic banking, or a regulatory role within a financial institution. Prior exposure to product development cycles and audit processes will be considered an advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package also includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
