Job Overview
This role is ideal for professionals passionate about bridging agricultural production and market access in Somalia. The Agricultural Supply Chain Coordinator will manage the flow of inputs and outputs, ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and profitability for farmers and stakeholders. The position emphasizes collaboration with local cooperatives, government agencies, and international partners to strengthen Somalia’s agricultural value chains.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the procurement, storage, and distribution of agricultural inputs (fertilizers, seeds, etc.) to farmers and cooperatives.
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies to reduce costs, improve delivery timelines, and enhance product quality.
- Collaborate with local agricultural institutions to conduct needs assessments and design tailored supply chain solutions.
- Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and logistical challenges to optimize supply chain operations.
- Provide training and technical support to farmers on sustainable farming practices and input usage.
- Ensure compliance with national and international agricultural regulations and sustainability standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agricultural supply chain management or logistics in emerging markets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in supply chain software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, often resource-constrained environment with minimal supervision.
- Fluency in Somali and English; knowledge of local agricultural practices is a plus.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CIPS, PMP) are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years of professional experience in agricultural supply chain, logistics, or rural development. Experience in Somalia or neighboring regions is preferred.
Salary
800,000 – 1,200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and performance.
