Job Overview
This role supports TechnoServe’s mission to transform Somalia’s agricultural sector by analyzing market systems and designing interventions that increase productivity and income for smallholder farmers. The position requires expertise in value chain analysis, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven decision-making to improve agricultural supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market systems analysis to identify constraints and opportunities in Somalia’s agricultural value chains
- Design and implement interventions to strengthen linkages between farmers, processors, and markets
- Collaborate with local cooperatives, government agencies, and private sector partners
- Monitor and evaluate program impact using quantitative and qualitative data
- Develop training materials for farmers on modern agricultural practices and market access
- Prepare reports for donors and stakeholders on program progress and outcomes
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agricultural supply chain development
- Strong analytical skills in market systems and value chain analysis
- Excellent cross-cultural communication and stakeholder management
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS)
- Knowledge of Somali agricultural policies and regulations
- Fluency in English and Somali
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in agricultural development programs
- Previous work in Somalia or other East African countries
- Experience with donor-funded projects (USAID, EU, World Bank)
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience

Working Environment
