Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA team in Galkayo, overseeing all aspects of product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems (QMS) aligned with ISO 22000, HACCP, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are documented, tracked, and resolved promptly.
  • Monitor product quality through routine testing, statistical process control, and trend analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors to address non‑conformities, root‑cause analysis, and preventive measures.
  • Manage supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring to guarantee raw material integrity.
  • Oversee documentation control, including SOPs, batch records, and deviation reports, ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality tools to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Provide training and mentorship to QA staff, fostering a culture of quality awareness across the facility.
  • Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local food safety authorities and support regulatory submissions as needed.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards (ISO 22000, HACCP, GFSI).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and quality tools (SPC, Pareto, Fishbone).
  • Excellent problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis capabilities.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to manage cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to interpret and apply local Somali food regulations.
  • Detail‑oriented with a commitment to maintaining high documentation standards.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Somali is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or HACCP Practitioner are highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food and beverage manufacturing sector. Experience managing audit processes, supplier quality, and leading continuous improvement projects is essential. Prior exposure to the Somali market or similar emerging economies will be advantageous.

Salary

The competitive compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary reviews are conducted annually, and performance‑based incentives are offered.
