Job Overview
The Data Center Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of Google’s newly commissioned data center in Jalalaqsi. Reporting to the Regional Infrastructure Director, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security of all hardware, networking, and support systems. The role demands a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic planning to meet service level agreements, maintain compliance with international standards, and support the scaling of cloud services for customers across Somalia and neighboring regions. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the data center, including power, cooling, networking, and security systems.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage capacity planning, forecasting, and scaling initiatives to support growth in cloud workloads.
- Coordinate incident response, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortem reporting.
- Develop and enforce operational SOPs, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with Google’s global infrastructure teams to align local practices with corporate policies.
- Prepare and present performance dashboards to senior leadership.
- Drive sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency and renewable energy integration.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including UPS, HVAC, fire suppression, and networking.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Stackdriver, Nagios, or Prometheus.
- Experience with capacity planning, load balancing, and virtualization technologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and make data‑driven decisions.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and disaster recovery planning.
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in data center management, cloud platforms (Google Cloud Certified), or infrastructure security are highly desirable and will strengthen your application.

Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience managing large‑scale data center operations, preferably within a multinational technology firm or a high‑availability environment. Salary
