Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mining Geotechnical Specialist to join our exploration and extraction team in Burao. This role is critical to the stability and safety of our mining operations. You will be responsible for analyzing rock mass properties, designing stable pit slopes, and managing ground control protocols to ensure the highest safety standards. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and site characterizations to assess rock mass quality.
• Develop and implement comprehensive ground control management plans for open-pit and underground operations.
• Perform numerical modeling to predict slope stability and rock mass behavior under various loading conditions.
• Monitor ground movement using advanced instrumentation and interpret data to prevent failures.
• Collaborate with geological and mining engineers to optimize pit design and extraction sequences.
• Ensure all geotechnical activities comply with international safety and environmental regulations.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in geotechnical modeling software such as Rocscience or Itasca.
• Deep understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and structural geology.

• Excellent project management and cross-functional team leadership abilities.
• High-level technical reporting and communication skills in English.

Education

A Master of Science (MSc) in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related geological discipline is mandatory. A PhD is considered a significant advantage for this specialized role.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 to 7 years of direct experience in geotechnical engineering within a large-scale mining environment. Proven track record in managing ground stability for complex geological formations is essential. Experience with remote site operations is highly preferred.

Salary
