Job Overview
This role oversees daily mining operations in Galkayo, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, production targets, and environmental regulations. The position requires strategic coordination with technical teams, equipment operators, and community stakeholders to maintain operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise mining site operations, including drilling, blasting, and material extraction.
- Implement safety and health protocols to minimize workplace risks.
- Coordinate with geologists and engineers to optimize mineral recovery rates.
- Monitor equipment performance and manage maintenance schedules.
- Prepare operational reports and analyze productivity metrics.
- Engage with local communities to address concerns and foster positive relationships.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership in mining operations management.
- Technical expertise in mineral extraction processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills for operational challenges.
- Proficiency in mining software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS).
- Bilingual communication skills (Somali/English preferred).
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field. Advanced certifications in mine safety or project management are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mining operations, with a focus on open-pit or underground mining techniques. Prior experience in Somalia or the Horn of Africa region is a plus.
Salary
8,000,000 – 12,000,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and performance.
