Job Overview

We are seeking a highly strategic and creative Public Relations Manager to lead our communication efforts in the Jowhar region. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance brand visibility in the central Somalia region.
• Manage media relations by building strong connections with local journalists, community leaders, and government officials.
• Draft and distribute press releases, official statements, and media kits to ensure consistent messaging.
• Coordinate press conferences and community engagement events to promote BBC Somali initiatives.
• Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to proactively manage potential reputational risks.
• Collaborate with the digital content team to align traditional PR efforts with social media campaigns.

Required Skills

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both Somali and English.
• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and media inquiries.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to plan long-term communication roadmaps.
• Expertise in crisis communication and reputation management.
• Proficiency in digital communication tools and social media monitoring platforms.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is mandatory. Advanced degrees or professional certifications in Corporate Communications are highly preferred.

Experience

Candidates must possess at least five years of professional experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media management. Experience working within a major international media organization or a large-scale NGO in East Africa is a significant advantage. Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 750,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and performance during the interview process.
