Job Overview
We are seeking a highly specialized Senior Metallurgical Engineer to lead our material testing and quality control divisions in Las Anod. This role is critical to ensuring that all metal products meet rigorous international standards for strength, durability, and corrosion resistance. The successful candidate will oversee complex chemical and physical analyses of alloys, optimize heat treatment processes, and lead a team of junior technicians. This is a high-impact role designed for an expert who thrives in a technical, fast-paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of advanced metallurgical testing protocols to ensure product compliance.
- Analyze the chemical and physical properties of various steel alloys to optimize production efficiency.
- Supervise heat treatment and casting processes to prevent structural defects in finished goods.
- Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to material failure.
- Implement sustainable metal recycling and waste reduction strategies within the plant.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of sophisticated laboratory equipment.
Required Skills
- Expertise in phase transformation and thermodynamics of steel alloys.
- Proficiency in using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).
- Advanced knowledge of ASTM and ISO standards for material testing.
- Strong leadership and project management capabilities.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing setting.
Education
A minimum of a Master of Science in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field is required. A PhD is highly preferred for candidates applying for senior leadership tracks.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 7 years of professional experience in a heavy industrial or metallurgical laboratory setting. Proven experience in managing large-scale production quality cycles is essential. Experience in the African manufacturing sector is a significant advantage.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 4,500,000 SSP to 7,200,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s specific expertise and technical certifications. This competitive package reflects the specialized nature of the role.
