Job Overview
The Credit Risk Analyst will play a pivotal role in evaluating credit proposals, monitoring portfolio performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough credit analysis of corporate, SME, and individual loan applications using financial statements, cash flow models, and market data.
- Prepare detailed credit risk reports, including risk ratings, mitigation strategies, and recommendation summaries for senior approval.
- Monitor existing loan portfolios for early warning signals, covenant breaches, and deteriorating credit quality.
- Collaborate with relationship managers to structure loan terms that align with risk appetite and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist in the development and refinement of credit risk policies, scoring models, and stress‑testing frameworks.
- Stay updated on macro‑economic trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting the Somali banking sector.
- Participate in credit committee meetings, presenting findings and defending risk assessments.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and credit scoring tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting to stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy.
- Solid understanding of Somali banking regulations, Basel III standards, and international best practices.
- Team‑player mindset with the capacity to collaborate across functions and cultures.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, or loan underwriting within a banking or financial services environment. Experience with SME lending or exposure to emerging markets is highly valued.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the remuneration structure.
