Position Summary

Save the Children International is seeking a qualified Health and Nutrition Officer to support the implementation of integrated health and nutrition interventions in Wanlaweyn. The successful candidate will coordinate community-based nutrition programs, monitor health activities, strengthen service delivery systems, and ensure effective implementation of maternal and child health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate implementation of nutrition and health projects in target communities.
  • Support management of outpatient therapeutic feeding programs.
  • Monitor child growth, nutrition screening, and referral systems.
  • Train community health workers on health promotion and nutrition awareness.
  • Conduct routine supervision visits to health facilities and outreach sites.
  • Ensure accurate collection and reporting of program data.
  • Support emergency health and nutrition response activities.
  • Participate in community mobilization and behavior change campaigns.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and health partners.
  • Monitor stock levels of nutrition supplies and essential medicines.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and donor reports.
  • Support maternal, infant, and young child feeding programs.
  • Ensure compliance with humanitarian and donor standards.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, Community Health, or related field.
  • Additional certification in Nutrition Programming or Humanitarian Response is an advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in health and nutrition programs.
  • Experience working with NGOs or international development organizations.
  • Strong understanding of CMAM and public health programming.
  • Experience in community engagement and health promotion activities.
  • Knowledge of donor-funded project implementation.
