Job Overview
This role focuses on ensuring compliance with international maritime trade regulations, customs protocols, and environmental standards for Maersk’s operations in Somalia. The position is critical to maintaining the company’s reputation for ethical trade practices and operational excellence in a complex regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce compliance with international maritime trade laws, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO) guidelines.
- Prepare and review documentation for customs clearance, import/export licenses, and shipping manifests.
- Liaise with Somali and international regulatory authorities to resolve compliance issues.
- Conduct audits of shipping operations to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Develop training programs for staff on evolving trade regulations and best practices.
Required Skills
- Expertise in maritime trade compliance frameworks (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL).
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in customs documentation and supply chain software systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Fluency in English and Somali.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Trade, Law, or a related field. Advanced certifications in maritime compliance (e.g., CTC, CTP) are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in maritime trade compliance, customs operations, or logistics management. Experience in East African or Somali maritime trade is preferred.
Salary
1,200,000 – 1,800,000 SSP per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
