Job Overview
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Microfinance Credit Officer to join our growing team in Afgooye. This role is critical to our mission of expanding credit access to underserved populations and small-scale entrepreneurs. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end credit process, from initial client assessment and loan application to disbursement and rigorous monitoring of repayments. You will act as a bridge between the bank and the local business community, ensuring that our financial products meet their specific needs while maintaining the bank’s risk standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough field visits to assess the viability of micro-entrepreneurial businesses and collateral.
- Evaluate loan applications by analyzing client financial statements, cash flows, and credit history.
- Develop and maintain a diverse portfolio of high-quality microfinance clients in the Afgooye region.
- Monitor loan repayment schedules and implement proactive recovery strategies for delinquent accounts.
- Provide financial literacy training and advisory services to clients to improve their business sustainability.
- Prepare detailed credit memos and risk assessment reports for the credit committee.
- Ensure all lending activities comply with local regulatory frameworks and internal bank policies.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in financial analysis and quantitative risk assessment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective client relationship management.
- Deep understanding of the local economic environment and micro-entrepreneurial trends in Afgooye.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
- Proficiency in using banking software and Microsoft Excel for data management.
- Ability to work independently in the field and manage time effectively.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with professional certifications in credit management or microfinance will be given strong preference.
Experience
Applicants must possess at least 3 to 5 years of proven experience in microfinance, commercial banking, or credit risk management. Previous experience working directly with small-scale traders and rural entrepreneurs is highly desirable. We are looking for individuals who have a track record of managing healthy loan portfolios and minimizing non-performing loans (NPLs).
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 1,200,000 SSP to 1,800,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and performance during the interview process.
