Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior E-Waste Management Specialist to lead our electronic waste mitigation strategies in the Sool region. This critical role involves designing, implementing, and overseeing complex recycling programs for discarded electronic components. As the digital landscape expands, the volume of e-waste increases, making this position vital for environmental protection in Somalia. You will be responsible for developing technical protocols for the safe extraction of precious metals and the responsible disposal of hazardous materials found in consumer electronics. This role requires a blend of technical engineering expertise and strategic project management to ensure compliance with international environmental standards while fostering local community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive e-waste collection and processing frameworks tailored to the local Somali context.
- Oversee the technical assessment of hazardous components in electronic devices to prevent soil and water contamination.
- Lead a team of technicians in the safe dismantling and sorting of high-value electronic components.
- Collaborate with local government agencies to ensure all recycling activities meet national environmental regulations.
- Implement data-driven tracking systems to monitor the lifecycle of electronic goods within the region.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for all new recycling facility installations.
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of chemical processes involved in the recovery of rare earth metals.
- Expertise in international environmental safety standards and hazardous waste protocols.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams.

Education
A Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is mandatory. Professional certification in Hazardous Waste Management is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of professional experience in waste management, specifically focusing on electronic or industrial waste. Proven experience in developing large-scale recycling programs in emerging markets is a significant advantage.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 4,500,000 SSP to 6,500,000 SSP, depending on experience and technical expertise.
