Job Overview

The Senior Mining Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily production activities at our Burao site. This is a high-level leadership role that requires a deep understanding of mineral extraction, processing, and site management. You will be tasked with optimizing production workflows, managing large multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring that all operations are conducted in strict compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This position is critical to our strategic growth in the region, as you will be responsible for meeting production targets while managing complex logistics and resource allocation. We are seeking a visionary leader who can navigate the complexities of the mining sector in Somalia while maintaining a focus on long-term sustainability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all on-site mining operations to ensure production targets are met efficiently and safely.
  • Implement and monitor rigorous health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols to protect workers and the ecosystem.
  • Manage large-scale budgets and optimize resource allocation to reduce operational costs.
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers, technicians, and site supervisors.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders and government agencies to ensure regulatory compliance and community support.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Required Skills

  • Advanced expertise in large-scale open-pit or underground mining operations.
  • Strong leadership and strategic decision-making capabilities in high-pressure environments.

Education

A Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field is mandatory. A PhD in a specialized mining discipline is highly preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mining operations management, preferably within a large-scale international mining firm. Proven track record of managing large budgets and diverse workforces is essential.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this position is 4,500,000 to 6,200,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and performance metrics.
