Job Overview
This Senior Network Engineer role is pivotal to maintaining and enhancing STG’s robust network infrastructure. The successful candidate will oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of network solutions that support the company’s expanding service portfolio. The position requires a deep understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and security, as well as the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in a fast‑paced environment.
As a key member of the Network Operations team, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless service delivery and continuous improvement of network performance. Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain high‑availability network architecture, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor network performance, analyze traffic patterns, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal uptime and throughput.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex network incidents, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues promptly.
- Plan and execute network expansion projects, including fiber deployment, 5G rollout, and capacity upgrades.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and best practices to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement network security controls and ensure adherence to industry standards.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities in high‑pressure environments.
- Knowledge of network security principles and experience with firewalls and VPNs.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Somali.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE, JNCIS) will be considered a plus.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in network engineering, preferably within a telecommunications environment. Experience with large‑scale network deployments and maintenance is essential.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 Somali Shillings (SOS), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
