Job Overview

This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining marine renewable energy infrastructure, including tidal turbines and offshore grid integration systems. The position is critical to advancing Somalia’s renewable energy goals while supporting coastal economic development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize marine energy systems for tidal and offshore wind integration
  • Conduct site assessments for tidal energy potential in Somali coastal regions
  • Oversee installation and maintenance of underwater turbines and subsea cabling
  • Collaborate with local authorities on marine environmental impact assessments
  • Develop technical specifications for energy storage solutions

Required Skills

  • Expertise in marine engineering software (e.g., ANSYS, AutoCAD Marine)
  • Experience with tidal energy system modeling and simulation
  • Knowledge of IEC 61400-25 standards for offshore wind systems
  • Strong project management skills for multi-disciplinary teams
  • Fluency in Somali and English

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, or related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license advantageous

Experience

  • 5+ years in marine renewable energy systems design and implementation
  • Proven track record in offshore energy projects
  • Experience in East African energy markets

Salary

1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
