Job Overview
This role is pivotal in designing and implementing renewable energy systems tailored for Somalia’s maritime environment. The consultant will collaborate with engineers, marine biologists, and policymakers to develop scalable solutions that address energy poverty and environmental resilience. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility studies for offshore wind and tidal energy projects in Somali waters.
- Design hybrid marine energy systems integrating solar, wind, and wave technologies.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental and maritime regulations.
- Lead technical assessments of coastal infrastructure for energy deployment.
- Prepare project proposals and secure funding from international development partners.
Required Skills
- Expertise in maritime renewable energy technologies and systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software for marine engineering designs.
- Strong analytical skills for environmental impact assessments.
- Excellent communication for cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in Oceanography or Energy Systems are a plus.
Experience
3-5 years in maritime renewable energy projects, with a focus on offshore installations or coastal energy systems. Prior experience in Somalia or the Horn of Africa is advantageous.
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP annually, with performance-based incentives.
