Job Overview

The 5G Network Deployment Engineer will lead the planning, design, and implementation of 5G radio access network (RAN) infrastructure in the Eyl region. This role involves close coordination with project managers, RF planners, and local stakeholders to ensure timely, cost‑effective, and high‑quality deployment of 5G sites. The engineer will be responsible for site surveys, equipment installation, integration testing, and performance optimization, adhering to Huawei’s global standards and local regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed site surveys and feasibility studies for 5G base station locations in Eyl and surrounding areas.
• Develop and validate network design documents, including RF planning, backhaul architecture, and power solutions.
• Lead the installation, configuration, and integration of 5G radio units, antennas, and associated hardware.
• Perform end‑to‑end testing, drive‑test measurements, and performance optimization to meet KPI targets.
• Collaborate with local authorities, utility providers, and contractors to secure permits and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field technicians.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, progress reports, and as‑built records.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, sharing lessons learned and best practices.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of 5G NR (New Radio) architecture, protocols, and standards (3GPP Release 15/16).
• Proficiency with RF planning tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet) and network performance analysis software.
• Hands‑on experience with microwave and fiber backhaul technologies.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical mindset.
• Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of Somali is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently in remote locations and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Huawei Certified Network Professional (HCNP) – 5G, or equivalent industry credentials, are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in telecom network engineering, with at least three years dedicated to 5G RAN deployment. Prior experience working on large‑scale infrastructure projects in emerging markets, especially within East Africa, will be considered a strong asset.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from 8,000,000 to 12,000,000 Somali Shillings (SSP), commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances for remote site work are also part of the compensation package.
