Job Overview
The Artificial Intelligence Ethics Officer will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of ethical guidelines for AI projects across Microsoft Somalia. Reporting to the Head of Ethics and Compliance, the role will collaborate with product teams, data scientists, legal counsel, and external stakeholders to ensure that AI solutions are transparent, fair, and aligned with both international standards and local cultural values. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive AI ethics framework tailored to the Somali context.
- Conduct risk assessments for AI models, focusing on bias, privacy, and societal impact.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.
- Provide guidance on regulatory compliance, including data protection laws and emerging AI regulations.
- Lead internal training sessions and workshops on responsible AI practices.
- Engage with external partners, NGOs, and government bodies to align Microsoft’s AI initiatives with national development goals.
- Prepare detailed reports and dashboards for senior leadership on ethics metrics and compliance status.

Required Skills
- Deep understanding of AI technologies, machine learning pipelines, and data governance.
- Strong knowledge of ethical frameworks such as IEEE, EU AI Act, and UNESCO recommendations.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities to evaluate complex ethical dilemmas.
- Proven experience drafting policies, guidelines, and compliance documentation.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally in multicultural teams.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Somali or Arabic is a plus.
Education

Experience
