Job Overview
The Digital Content Strategist will lead the planning, creation and distribution of compelling digital content that resonates with Somali audiences across multiple platforms, including websites, social media, mobile apps and video channels. Working closely with editorial, production and marketing teams, you will develop data‑driven strategies that increase audience engagement, drive traffic and support Al Jazeera’s mission of delivering trustworthy news. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive digital content strategy aligned with business goals and audience insights.
- Collaborate with journalists, videographers, designers and social media managers to produce high‑quality articles, videos, infographics and podcasts.
- Analyze performance metrics using analytics tools, adjust tactics, and produce regular reports for senior leadership.
- Manage editorial calendars, ensuring timely delivery of content across all digital channels.
- Stay abreast of emerging digital trends, platform updates and competitor activities to keep Al Jazeera’s digital presence innovative.
- Oversee SEO optimization, keyword integration and metadata to improve discoverability of content.
- Coordinate with advertising and sponsorship teams to integrate branded content without compromising editorial integrity.
Required Skills
- Strong storytelling ability with a keen eye for visual and written content.
- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), social media management tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Sprout Social).
- Excellent understanding of SEO, SEM and audience segmentation.
- Ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable content plans.
- Fluency in English and Somali; additional languages are a plus.

Education

Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of proven experience in digital content creation, strategy development or a similar role within the media, entertainment or publishing sectors. Experience working in East Africa or with Somali audiences is highly desirable.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per month, commensurate with experience and expertise. The package includes performance‑based incentives and benefits outlined below.
