Job Overview

As Somalia’s agricultural sector embraces digital transformation, Cargill seeks a visionary Digital Agriculture Solutions Manager to lead the development and implementation of smart farming technologies in Merka. This role will bridge traditional farming practices with modern data-driven solutions to optimize crop yields and resource efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement digital tools for precision agriculture, including soil health monitoring and irrigation optimization
  • Collaborate with local farmers to integrate mobile-based agricultural advisory services
  • Manage data analytics platforms for real-time crop monitoring and yield prediction
  • Develop partnerships with tech startups for drone-based crop surveillance solutions
  • Train agricultural cooperatives on using digital tools for supply chain management

Required Skills

  • Expertise in agricultural software platforms (FarmBeats, AgLeader, etc.)
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping for land use optimization
  • Strong project management skills for cross-sector collaborations
  • Knowledge of climate-smart agricultural technologies
  • Bilingual communication skills (Somali/English)

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or related field
  • Master’s Degree in AgriTech or Digital Agriculture preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in agricultural technology implementation

Salary

1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
