Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Hydrogeologist to lead our groundwater assessment and management initiatives in the Middle Shabelle region. This role is pivotal in identifying sustainable water sources and designing technical interventions to mitigate the effects of drought. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive groundwater modeling and aquifer characterization studies.
  • Lead field-based geological investigations and borehole drilling supervision.
  • Design technical specifications for sustainable water extraction systems.
  • Analyze water quality data to ensure compliance with international safety standards.
  • Collaborate with local government agencies to integrate hydrogeological data into regional water management plans.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior field technicians and environmental officers.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in groundwater modeling software such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW.
  • Expertise in interpreting geophysical survey data (Electrical Resistivity Tomography).
  • Strong project management skills with experience in large-scale field operations.
  • Excellent technical report writing and data visualization capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of local hydrological patterns and seasonal variations.

Education

A Master’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related engineering discipline is mandatory. A PhD in a specialized field of hydrology is highly preferred.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of professional experience in hydrogeological investigations, preferably within the NGO or international development sector. Proven experience working in complex environments and managing multi-disciplinary technical teams is essential for this role.

Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 4,500,000 SSP to 6,200,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s technical expertise and previous experience in the sector.
