Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our industrial operations team in Galkayo. This role is critical to ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of our high-capacity manufacturing machinery and automated production lines. The successful candidate will lead maintenance strategies, oversee complex mechanical repairs, and implement predictive maintenance technologies to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all industrial mechanical assets.
- Lead the troubleshooting and repair of complex mechanical systems, including turbines, pumps, conveyors, and automated assembly units.
- Manage the spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are always available while optimizing costs.
- Supervise and mentor a team of junior engineers and maintenance technicians to ensure high performance and safety compliance.
- Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and recommend technical upgrades or replacements.
- Coordinate with the procurement department to source high-quality mechanical components and specialized tools.
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to strict Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) protocols and environmental regulations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports on equipment reliability, maintenance costs, and downtime analysis for senior management.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in mechanical design, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities in a high-pressure industrial environment.
- Expertise in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and diagnostic tools.
- Deep understanding of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies to prevent recurring failures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to draft technical documentation and present to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of international engineering standards such as ISO and ASME.
Education
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized international university is mandatory. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field will be given significant preference. Professional certifications in maintenance management or reliability engineering are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants must possess a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in mechanical maintenance within a large-scale manufacturing or heavy industrial setting. Proven experience in leading technical teams and managing large-scale maintenance budgets is essential. Previous experience working in emerging markets or within the East African industrial sector is a distinct advantage for this job vacancy in Somalia.
Salary
The offered salary for this position ranges from 4,500,000 SSP to 6,500,000 SSP per month, depending on the candidate’s experience, technical expertise, and previous compensation history. This competitive package reflects the seniority and critical nature of the role.
