Job Overview
The Senior Mining Safety Inspector will play a critical role in overseeing the safety protocols and operational integrity of our mining sites in the Burao region. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive daily site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with international mining safety regulations.
- Lead detailed audits of heavy machinery, ventilation systems, and structural integrity of mine shafts.
- Develop and implement robust emergency response protocols and conduct regular evacuation drills.
- Analyze incident reports and near-miss data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with site managers to integrate safety protocols into daily production workflows.
- Provide technical guidance and training to local staff on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety software.
- Monitor environmental compliance related to dust control, water usage, and waste management.
Required Skills
- Expert knowledge of international mining safety standards (ISO 45001 or equivalent).
- Advanced proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification techniques.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to manage diverse teams in remote locations.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex technical data and safety metrics.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, with the ability to deliver training to multi-lingual workforces.
- Proficiency in using digital safety management systems and reporting tools.
Education
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a closely related technical field. Experience
A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in safety inspection within the mining or heavy industrial sector is required.
