Job Overview

The Solar Farm Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of the Qandala Solar Farm, ensuring optimal performance, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. Reporting to the Regional Renewable Energy Director, the manager will coordinate cross‑functional teams, oversee maintenance schedules, and implement performance improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in delivering on the project’s KPIs, reducing downtime, and maximizing energy output, thereby contributing to the overall success of Siemens Gamesa’s renewable energy objectives in Somalia.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all operational activities of the solar farm, including generation monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Develop and enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with local regulations and Siemens Gamesa standards.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and contractors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Analyze performance data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions to optimize energy production.
• Prepare and present operational reports, KPI dashboards, and budget forecasts to senior management.
• Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of spare parts and consumables.
• Lead emergency response planning and execution for incidents such as equipment failures or extreme weather events.
• Engage with local stakeholders, government agencies, and community leaders to promote project benefits and address concerns.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, including design, operation, and maintenance.
• Proven leadership and team management abilities in a technical environment.
• Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and performance monitoring software.
• Effective communication skills in English; proficiency in Somali is an advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
• Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to renewable energy projects.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in solar technology, project management (PMP), or safety (OSHA) are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience managing solar farm operations or similar renewable energy facilities. Prior experience in a leadership role within the energy sector, preferably in East Africa, will be considered a strong asset.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 3,500,000 to SSP 5,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
