Job Overview

The Curriculum Development Specialist will lead the design, adaptation and implementation of curricula for primary and secondary education programmes in Somalia. Working closely with local educators, government officials and international partners, you will ensure that learning materials are culturally relevant, pedagogically sound and aligned with national standards. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive needs assessments with schools, ministries and community stakeholders.
• Design curriculum frameworks for core subjects, integrating digital resources and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Adapt existing international curricula to align with Somali national standards and local cultural contexts.
• Develop teacher guides, lesson plans, assessment tools and multimedia resources.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions for teachers and curriculum coordinators.
• Collaborate with monitoring and evaluation teams to track programme effectiveness and produce impact reports.
• Provide technical support to partner organisations implementing the curricula.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in curriculum design, instructional design and pedagogy.

• Proficiency in English and Somali; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.

Education

A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, Instructional Design or a closely related discipline is required. Additional certifications in project management or adult learning are desirable.

Experience

At least five years of hands‑on experience developing curricula for primary or secondary education, preferably in low‑resource or multilingual settings. Prior experience in Somalia or the Horn of Africa region is highly valued.

Salary
