Job Overview

The Battery Recycling Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of battery recycling processes at Siemens Energy’s new Lughaya facility. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop end‑to‑end battery recycling processes, including collection, disassembly, material recovery, and waste treatment.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and pilot projects to validate recycling technologies suitable for the Somali market.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international environmental regulations, health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with R&D, operations, and supply‑chain teams to integrate recycling streams into existing energy projects.
  • Monitor process performance, analyze data, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Engage with local authorities, NGOs, and community groups to promote recycling awareness and education.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of battery chemistries, recycling methods, and material recovery techniques.
  • Proficiency in process engineering tools, CAD software, and data analytics.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and project management experience.
  • Effective communication skills in English; Arabic or Somali is a plus.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and adapt to dynamic environments.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering is required. A Master’s degree or specialized certification in waste management, renewable energy, or circular economy is highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience in battery recycling, hazardous waste treatment, or related engineering fields. Prior experience in emerging markets or African contexts is advantageous.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of 8,000,000 – 12,000,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
