Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sustainable Agriculture Specialist to join our team in Garowe, Somalia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance to rural communities, governments, and other stakeholders to improve agricultural productivity, promote sustainable agriculture practices, and enhance the livelihoods of rural people.
The Sustainable Agriculture Specialist will work closely with IFAD’s country office in Somalia, as well as with other development partners, to design and implement projects that address the needs of rural communities. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of agricultural development, rural poverty reduction, and sustainable agriculture practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to rural communities, governments, and other stakeholders to improve agricultural productivity and promote sustainable agriculture practices.
- Design and implement projects that address the needs of rural communities, including improving agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable agriculture practices, and enhancing the livelihoods of rural people.
- Work closely with IFAD’s country office in Somalia, as well as with other development partners, to ensure that projects are aligned with IFAD’s strategic objectives and are implemented effectively.
- Conduct field visits to rural communities to assess their needs and provide technical assistance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with government officials, civil society organizations, and the private sector to promote IFAD’s work and achieve its goals.
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Agriculture or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in agricultural development, rural poverty reduction, and sustainable agriculture practices.
- Strong understanding of agricultural development, rural poverty reduction, and sustainable agriculture practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team and build relationships with government officials, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Agriculture or a related field from a recognized university.
Experience
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in agricultural development, rural poverty reduction, and sustainable agriculture practices. Experience working in Somalia or other developing countries is an asset.
Salary
The successful candidate will be offered a salary of 50,000 – 70,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
