Job Overview

This role involves designing and implementing waste-to-energy systems to convert municipal solid waste into electricity and thermal energy. The position is critical for advancing Somalia’s transition to circular economy principles while addressing waste management challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize waste-to-energy systems using cutting-edge technologies.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new projects in collaboration with local municipalities.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Train local technicians on system operation and maintenance.
  • Prepare technical reports and sustainability impact assessments.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in anaerobic digestion, gasification, or incineration technologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for system design.
  • Strong analytical skills for energy output optimization.
  • Bilingual communication (English/Somali) for stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of Somali environmental regulations and permitting processes.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Renewable Energy Systems.
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not required.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in waste management or renewable energy projects.
  • Experience with similar systems in arid or semi-arid regions.

Salary

300,000 – 450,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
