We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team in Galkayo, Somalia.
Job Overview
The Senior Environmental Sustainability Specialist will be responsible for leading our conservation efforts in Somalia, focusing on sustainable land use, climate change, and community engagement.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, conservation, and sustainability, with experience working in Africa and Somalia.
They will be responsible for developing and implementing conservation strategies, working with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable development and reduce human-wildlife conflict.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement conservation strategies for WWF Somalia, focusing on sustainable land use, climate change, and community engagement
- Work with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable development and reduce human-wildlife conflict
- Conduct research and analysis to inform conservation decisions and strategies
- Develop and manage projects and budgets to achieve conservation goals
- Represent WWF Somalia at national and international forums and meetings
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
- 8-12 years of experience in conservation, sustainability, and environmental science
- Strong background in sustainable land use, climate change, and community engagement
- Experience working in Africa and Somalia
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field from a recognized university.
Experience
The successful candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in conservation, sustainability, and environmental science, with a strong background in sustainable land use, climate change, and community engagement.
Salary
The salary for this position is 50,000 – 70,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
